Who we are:
Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an independent humanitarian and development organisation. Founded in 1984, with headquarters based in Birmingham, UK, we have a presence in around 44 countries. We started our operations in Bangladesh in April 1991 by assisting the victims of a tropical cyclone and received registration from the NGO Affairs Bureau in the same year.
We envisage a caring world where people unite to respond to the suffering of others, emposering them to fulfill their potential and seeks to promote suntainable economic and social empowerment by working with local communities in times of disasters as well as through development programmes in the sectors of children, gender, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods and disaster risk reduction.
We support the world's most vulnerale people in the fight against poverty and sufferings. We do this regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief and without expecting anything in return. Islamic Relief is currently working in 37 districts across Bangladesh.
